Carrying forward a 2018 SFA study serving Travel Lane County, SFA was re-engaged by the Willamalane Park & Recreation District to produce a detailed financial forecast and economic impact analysis for a revised version of an indoor track and court facility that would expand Parks and Recreation programming, meet the community’s need for track and court-based activities, and generate new spending in Springfield and around Lane County. SFA’s analysis and recommendations are being used to determine ownership, governance structure, the business and operations plan, and funding mechanisms for the complex.

SFA was engaged to review of existing data review documentation, and resources related to the project including floor plans, feasibility projections, organization structure, budget, and lease agreements in order to build a market opportunity report. After reviewing the existing data, SFA facilitated a Business Development Strategy Session (BDPS) in which they focused on defining success and refining the client’s vision, value propositions, financial resources and core competencies, products and services, strategic alliances, and financial success metrics. We then produced our Pro Forma to provide insight into the financial potential of the project. The document included projections related to construction and start-up costs, revenues/expenses by product/program, EBITDA, net income, facility utilization, and more. SFA also produced an economic impact report to project economic activity from out-of-town visitors who would not be in the market but for the events that will be held at the proposed facility.

SFA was engaged to complete a market analysis of the greater Springfield area, which included strategic planning and involved discussions with key decision makers related to the program/activity plan. SFA produced a financial forecast and economic impact analysis and has subsequently been used as an ongoing resource for strategic initiatives to move the project forward.

SFA was engaged to complete a market analysis and community needs/demand assessment, including a planning/ strategy meeting with the City, a review of design concepts, and presentations to the City regarding early-stage findings/ recommendations. SFA completed a detailed financial forecast and economic impact study and is currently engaged in ongoing discussions in regard to assisting in the execution of the plan and evaluating additional opportunities for sports and recreation.

Next, SFA facilitated on-site planning and strategy meetings while also conducting site tours and leading key stakeholder interviews. This initial work has led into the completion of a financial forecast (pro forma) and feasibility study.

SFA reviewed existing data on the project, studied the market, and strategized the vision for the facility with the client. We then prepared an executive summary-level document acknowledging the market opportunity.

Based on a significant lack of access to indoor pools and a clear need to improve water safety in this East-End Long Island community, SFA has been supporting this non-profit endeavor since 2017. Throughout the long-standing engagement, SFA has developed multiple rounds of financial forecasts, public presentations, marketing materials, and fundraising strategies.

As the largest and most innovative indoor sports complex in the country, Spooky Nook Sports, located just outside of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is the ultimate destination for families, athletes and businesses. With more than 700,000 square feet under one roof and over 50 acres of outdoor facilities, the Nook Sports facility has the unique capacity to simultaneously host clubs, leagues, tournaments and championship events throughout every season. SFA, SFD, and SFM were engaged throughout the development of the facility from concept development through Grand Opening events.

SFA scope of work included a review of existing data review, site tour/stakeholder interviews, program analysis, and financial forecasting for the masterplan. As requested in the RFP, SFA will continue to provide support with project implementation, financing, and operations.

SFA conducted community user group and stakeholder interviews, as well as producing planning documentation. SFA then produced a financial forecast to provide insight into the financial potential of the project.

City Beach Volleyball Club is primarily located at our 5-court facility in Santa Clara. During the volleyball club’s season City Beach will host Power League, Area League, Invitational, and Youth-Rec teams. City Beach offers fall training teams, seasonal camps, academic volleyball camps, and private instruction.

During the planning and design process, SFM worked as an “Owner’s Representative” in partnership with the design and construction teams to ensure the facility design supports the Pro Forma. This included critical adjacencies, space planning, and operational details. The SFM venue design team ensured the athletic spaces and equipment meet the requirements for leagues, tournaments, events, and other supporting programming through our FF&E (Furnishings, Fixture & Equipment) procurement process.

Adrenaline Monkey opened in June 2018 with management services from SFM including pre-opening planning, staffing, marketing, and operational structure. Inspiring “Adventure For Life”, Adrenaline Monkey is a state-of-the-art family adventure and performance training center.

Working with the Rhode Island Convention Center Authority and the operator of both the convention center and indoor arena in Providence, SFA was engaged to evaluate multiple sites and multiple business models that could contribute to tourism-driving events in and around Providence. SFA provided insights and data related to two sites that would be suited to two different facility types, each of which was recommended based on use of land, potential development incentives, surrounding infrastructure, local demand, existing service providers, expected financial performance, and expected economic impact.

SFA conducted a market analysis and community needs/demand assessment, including strategic planning meetings, key stakeholder and user group interviews, discussions with key decision makers related to the program/activity plan, and presentations of their findings/recommendations.

In one of SFA’s most important initiatives, SFA worked with Florida Recreation and Park Association, the Center for Disease Control, the Florida Sports Foundation, and dozens of other professionals and organizations to demonstrate the impact of parks across several impact areas, including property values, tourism spending, job creation, environmental savings, public safety, and health care cost savings. The Parks Impact Calculator is educating and empowering parks and recreation professionals as well as elected officials throughout the State to recognize the value of places and programs to play, and the reports that are generated by the calculator are being used to inform funding decisions for parks systems all over Florida. The Florida Parks Impact Calculator is now being used as the baseline for similar state-specific calculators SFA is producing around the country.

SFA conducted Funding Support Services for the client, which included identifying strategic public, private, and community partners, building a project presentation for potential funding sources (bound copies of financial forecasts, market research documents, and investor/lender information packets), and representing the project in formal meetings.

Hill Country Indoor will provide Travis County residents with a state-of-the-art indoor sports facility that will enable both adults and youth, the ability to enjoy sports year round.

In one of the most comprehensive state-wide studies of the economic impact of sports ever conducted, SFA worked with ten destination marketing organizations across the State of Michigan to determine the contribution of youth and amateur sports on the State’s economy. In total, SFA evaluated and reported on more than 430 events that bring more than $320 million in visitor spending annually throughout Michigan.

The plan for this best-in-class competitive natatorium includes a 50-meter competition pool, a diving well, a warm-up pool, and a leisure pool that will improve aquatics-based competition options for participants in USA Swimming, National Federation of State High School Associations (NFSHSA), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Federation International de Natation Amateur (FINA), USA Water Polo, USA Diving, USA Synchronized Swimming, USA Masters Swimming, The YMCA, and more. SFA worked with strategic partner Counsilman-Hunsaker to support concept development and operational projections, with SFA’s primary areas of focus being on economic impact and funding options.
