The City of Waxahachie has made sports and the health of its community a priority with outdoor fields and boasts 22 parks throughout the area. As the City continues to grow, they wanted to see what gaps were in their unique market. When they engaged the Sports Facilities Company (SFC), the goal was to provide more facilities to their community as well as expand their reach and bring in sports tourism.
Throughout the partnership between the City and SFC, SFC developed four facility models for consideration: an indoor facility, an indoor facility with aquatics, an indoor facility with aquatics and outdoor fields, and the recommended model—an indoor facility with outdoor fields. This comprehensive analysis provided Waxahachie with detailed insights into the financial feasibility and operational viability of each option. By evaluating these models, SFC helped the city determine the most strategic and sustainable facility plan, ensuring that the recommended model will maximize the community’s sports and recreation opportunities while driving long-term economic impact.
The financial feasibility models gave key stakeholders the ability to make data-driven decisions and the community with the education of how much it will cost to build and operate to go out to bond for a new indoor sports and recreation facility.
