The Town of Tusayan, a small community with a population of approximately 571, issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to develop a comprehensive Sports Complex Master Plan. Recognizing the growing demand for recreational amenities and the potential to enhance community engagement, the town sought expert guidance in designing a facility that would support their residents. To help achieve this vision, Tusayan partnered with the architecture firm Orcutt Winslow and the Sports Facilities Companies (SFC), leveraging their specialized expertise in design and recreation.
With the help of The Grand Canyon Unified School District, who was willing to provide land needed to create a new sports complex, this project quickly moved from the ideation phase into reality.
Orcutt Winslow and SFC provided the town with a thorough master plan, focusing on expanding the community’s offerings in a way that meets both current and future needs. The plan included strategic recommendations for facility development, program offerings, and operational considerations, aimed at creating a sustainable, multi-use sports complex that supports the local community.
