Community Engagement

What good is a pool if no one uses it? When we’re hired to operate a pool or aquatics center, we take a wholistic view of the community and the facility’s role in placemaking, public safety, and health.  With learn-to-swim programs, senior aerobics, “dive-in” movie nights, and more… we activate the pool for people of all ages.

Why SFC for Aquatics Operations & Management?

Selecting a pool manager or aquatics center operator is a big decision. Community pools, recreation centers, and local waterparks are a gathering point for local residents, creates lifelong memories, important skills (swimming!), and are an oasis from busy schedules.

Municipalities and private facility owners alike choose SFC for our experience, collaboration, and commitment to service. With our model, you maintain control of your assets, set the goals and vision for the facility, and we execute with excellence. You can expect regular financial reporting, scheduled updates & meetings, and proven leadership.

More about how we serve you & your community:

Whether operated seasonally or year-round, community pools and aquatic centers are a staple in many communities. Often heavily subsidized, these facilities need aquatics experience and expertise to perform at their best – financially, safely, programmatically, and operationally. For this reason, many municipalities choose to outsource pool operations to private-sector partners who specialize in aquatics operations.

For existing aquatic centers, making the change to outsourced management from the Sports Facilities Companies is a thoughtful, highly collaborative process. Following an evaluation and review of the physical facility, historical financials, program plan, marketing & business development activity, our team will create a transition timeline (typically 60-90 days) and produce a 5-year financial outlook.

Our take-over process ensures 100% client alignment so that we can maintain and enhance the service to the community. During the process, we are often asked if we can retain any existing staff, and the answer is yes! We will evaluate existing staff members and determine the best fit, development plan, and career path with SFC.

For new aquatics centers in planning or construction, the time to select an operating partner is ideally 12-18 months prior to your planned grand opening date. You’ll want to select an aquatics operator with experience managing similar community pools, water parks, or aquatic facilities, with a track record of performance, and the proven ability to build a business. At Sports Facilities Companies, we begin an engagement by developing a pre-opening timeline which encapsulates every task, in order of completion, required to develop your business as well as a five-year financial forecast.

An important key to our success is the team effort between our in-market facility operators and our subject matter experts. Our in-market teams are often sourced from the city in which they serve and are empowered to develop meaningful relationships with community stakeholders, user groups, local government, and local businesses. Our subject matter expert departments are organized to lead every aspect of business from marketing to HR, accounting to maintenance and are obsessed with the success of your facility.

Customized Approach

Every community is different and deserves a customized approach to managing their aquatics center. We take the time to get to know you, your community, and we create a plan to achieve your specific goals and objectives.

Aquatics Experience

We currently operate dedicated aquatics centers, outdoor competition pools, splashpads, and pools in larger recreation centers. Our experience allows us to solve challenges, improve guest experience, innovate local programming, and maximize results.

Safety First

When operating an aquatic center or community pool, safety comes first. All SFC lifeguards are trained and certified by the Red Cross. We also work with industry leading partners and our risk management team to ensure every aspect of the pool maximizes safety.
