Shannon is an industry veteran with over 25 years of experience in sports administration, including as the Director of Athletics at his alma mater, University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Shannon takes his passion for serving the community and ability to build strong, impactful teams to his role as General Manager at the Hoover Met Complex.

As General Manager, Shannon is responsible for guiding his staff of marketing, business development, venue operations, and sports professionals through the necessary processes to make the Hoover Met Complex one of the nation’s best sports, recreation, and event venues. He also oversees the development of employee and operating policies and the implementation of major business initiatives.

Shannon’s impressive career includes his efforts to get football and bowling reinstated as school sports at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Shannon was appointed the Interim Athletic Director on the day that the university eliminated those sports, and he was able to get them back after six months. He also helped to generate $40 million in ticket sales for the Southeastern Conference’s championships.
