Tony Thiry is a seasoned sports and facility management professional with decades of experience in operational leadership and youth sports development. As a certified ice rink manager and USA Hockey Level 4 coach, Tony brings a wealth of expertise to his role as General Manager of the Woodman’s Sports and Convention Center in Janesville, Wisconsin.
In his current position, Tony oversees the operations of the state-of-the-art 140,000-square-foot Woodman’s Sports and Convention Center. He is responsible for managing the facility’s diverse offerings, including a year-round main ice arena, a versatile multipurpose arena for various sports, and 25,800 square feet of conference space. Tony’s focus is on creating exceptional experiences for athletes, teams, and visitors while driving economic growth for the Janesville community. He leads strategic initiatives to maximize the venue’s $23 million forecasted annual economic impact, oversees the creation of 228 full-time jobs, and ensures the facility becomes a standout destination known throughout the region.
Prior to joining the Woodman’s Sports and Convention Center, Tony served as Vice President of Operations at Scheels Arena and Farmers Union Insurance Center in Fargo, North Dakota. In this role, he led operational transformations, implemented cost-saving measures, and fostered partnerships to support local sports and youth development. Tony’s experience includes managing high-profile events such as NCAA Division 1 Men’s College Hockey Regional Tournaments and USA Hockey National Championships.
