David Joyner brings over twelve years of executive-level hospitality, venue, marketing, and public relations management experience to his role as general manager of Rocky Mount Event Center. The Rocky Mount Event Center is a 165,000 square foot multi-purpose facility for athletic and entertainment events.
In his role, David leads a team of operations, business development, marketing, and event professionals through all components of facility management. David ensures the execution of best practices, driving Rocky Mount to be one of the region’s premiere sports, events, and entertainment destinations.
In 2018, David was featured in Business North Carolina magazine, in their first Trailblazer edition, which highlighted twenty-two young business professionals who lead and make a measurable difference in their communities. Also in 2018, he was featured on a special UNC-TV profile. The morning business and news radio show that David hosted at the time was covered, along with his business and community leadership endeavors.
David has been recognized as an effective leader and advocate for the communities’ Downtown Redevelopment and is a recipient of the NC Main Street Champions Award. In 2020, David was presented the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce’s President’s Award, honoring his service and leadership in the region’s economic and community development arena.
David currently serves as the promotions committee chairman for the City of Rocky Mount’s Central City Revitalization Panel, and the vice chairman of marketing for the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the medical staff development committee for Nash UNC Healthcare, a member of the Rocky Mount Area Chamber’s Minority Business & Economic Development Committee, and a member of the University of North Carolina Television’s Black Issues Forum Council.
